Number 8

Friendly Cab is leading the way in turning an industry known as an environmental adversary into an environmental ally. Motor vehicles are arguably the largest contributors to air pollution. And while cabs run 24-hours a day, and often accumulate over 100,000 miles a year, this gives taxicab operators a tremendous opportunity to make a significant impact on offsetting carbon omissions by introducing hybrid taxis.

While many cities around the world, including New York, London, and San Francisco, have already begun the movement toward eco-friendly taxis, Friendly Cab is positioning itself as the front-runner in Oakland’s green taxi movement. Each hybrid conversion from the current Ford Crown Victoria standard can potentially offset up to one hundred and sixty (160) pounds of carbon dioxide a day. That’s fifty-seven thousand and six hundred (57,600) pounds of carbon dioxide a year- per cab!

Beginning in early June, Friendly Cab will be introducing its fourth and fifth hybrid vehicles in Oakland. Current plans include replacing one or two (1-2) conventional cabs a month with hybrids. We hope that Oakland residents and businesses will support our green movement by exclusively riding with a company that’s not only customer-friendly, but also eco-Friendly!
Keep your eyes out for the new Friendly Cab!
